A Kind of Arrival, another NEW poem

A kind of arrival

There is little point denying
it has a hold on me
not a bear hug or crushing grip
of an icy giant’s frosted fist
but a more subtle enveloping
like a crush you can’t shake
in your school years
and perhaps that is where it takes us
back to seeing for the first time
with exploring nervous eyes
as we practice our lines
and we refine our art
still not having decided which way
should our heart be pointing
the future so far
and far away
it is all we can do to get through each long day
making scribbles and doodles
daydreaming of times
that may have never happened

or have yet to arrive
