Sleep of the restful The kiss of the evening falls and makes me restful an ocean of chemicals floats through my veins gulls fallen as quiet as the starry night sky and the wind has stalled for once I feel at one with a world of spending and afternoons I spent wasted indoors lover of rain and fugitive of the sunshine partaker of the flame compositor of words and lines of feeling cling to the meat I wear beneath my skin thin as any nervous membrane and voices rattling my brain I am at home with my condition for the moment the hours gone midnight warm in isolation and the silence sings like strings of sheerest gossamer and the smell of candles waves with every flicker while toned paintings take the shape they've always strived for the tea remains warm and as sweet as a blend of ginger and honey on a grey bespeckled day my eyes hang low with sleep the long night beckoning me gently like a benign siren soon the week starts again and the days will return to the harsh angled light of anxiety but tonight the kiss of the evening falls tonight the world can sleep the stolen sleep of the restful

Sleep of the Restful
