Address

When I am more settled I will walk
up to the edge of the sea
by dawn the marina will be bombarded by gold
the stars will recede
and should I fall over the railings
where no man swims
where squid and mussels cling
to ancient memories
I shall be imprinted
where the rocks slide from their beds
I will smear the ocean
with these voices
I will sing

and you will hear my heartbeat pulsing
on the horizon's scar
you will see the gulls go gliding
silently and far
you who never knew me
you who tore my world
apart
you who turned on and withdrew from me
my blood my choice
my heart
